AFRICAN EXTRACTS Rooibos Skin Care is a South African success story
|
African Extracts is a small skin care house based in Cape Town that has successfully managed to harness the unique properties of the Rooibos plant, and deliver them with huge success in the African Extracts ROOIBOS Skin Care Range.
African Extracts is now the fastest growing skin care brand in South Africa. With growth in excess of 30% over 15 years it is now a skin care range that rivals the super giant brands of Oil Olay, Nivea and Olay! Why?
It works. Customers can see and feel an improvement in their skin - it smells wonderful and importantly, it is quality at an affordable price.
African Extracts uses a patented ‘green tea’ extract, that delivers 11 times more anti-oxidants to the skin than was formerly possible with conventional extracts. This has resulted in a unique combination in skin care that in just over a decade has gone from inception to one of the most recognised and admired brands in South Africa. It truly is skin care to believe in! |

African Extracts operates from a small manufacturing plant and office in Paarden Eiland minutes from downtown Cape Town. Here a friendly team of marketing and operational staff, along with a network of commission sales staff have risen to the challenges of starting a new brand from scratch and have done so successfully in the spirit of the new South Africa; at home and increasingly abroad. |
|
Bringing a completely new brand to the market is challenging for any company. But confident that this range was capable of speaking for itself, African Extracts focussed on getting people to ‘give it a go’ by giving out testers through in-store promoters. This strategy worked wonderfully well, with exponential growth the result. |

The brand has proven so successful it has been picked up by marketing companies around the world. Here is a product that ticks all the boxes. The most important one being IT WORKS!
The UK, USA, Russia, Japan are some of the bigger markets it is succeeding in. |

The New Zealand Connection - my story
|
I stumbled across this product when in Cape Town at the end of a fantastic camping adventure with my husband and two teenage boys that took us from Victoria Falls in Zambia, down through Botswana, Namibia and South Africa – an awesome experience that I will never forget.
I totally loved it. Africa is staggeringly huge and beautiful and the people in all their varieties, are too.
After three weeks, I arrived in Cape Town pretty much looking and feeling like a prune. Then at the Cape Town Aquarium, I spied an attractive product on the counter with ROOIBOS in it.
Well for two reasons the word ROOIBOS attracted me.
The first, was because we had been drinking the TEA (a herbal one) the whole holiday. That was the drink supplied by the South African guide. I disliked it at first, but it grew on me and now it is a firm favourite. Our guide was always telling us how good it was ... healthy, babies drink it for colic, no caffeine, good for digestion, good for skin, used for thousands of years....etc etc. The second, was because we had travelled through the Cederburg Mountains; a pristine semi-arid region which happens to be the only place in the world the herb ROOIBOS (red bush) grows. It only grows in its natural environment to which it is perfectly suited. There is a wonderful story about how the seed was collected from ant nests . So all in all, ROOIBOS was a memorable part of my African experience, and I recognised it as a good thing.
To cut to the chase – I bought a tube of Day Cream – I could not believe the impact it immediately had on my skin IT WORKED!!!!
I bought more products; came home with them, was complemented by friends on my much improved skin (it used to be dull and lumpy), they tried some, they loved it too...... we got more samples.... same response from other women... that was it; I wanted to be part of this!
I got the NZ Agency.... and finally after a bit of a hiccup getting started, we finally got started properly at the recent Gift Fair.
So there it is; my story relating to this gorgeous product.
ALSO , every sale we make puts this healthy herb to work for Africa.
Real aid through trade with a company paying tax to a democratically elected government (that needs all it can get) and employing a good number of people directly (50 mostly women when busy) and indirectly.
Some of the income we earn here in NZ goes back to improve life opportunities and choices for some children at least – we donate directly to GCU a grassroots ‘soccer club’, aimed at engaging and schooling children based in Hieldveld, a most dreadful ‘gangland’ area outside Cape Town. Visit their website www.gcu.co.za
I hope you give this product a go
I think you might like it a whole lot.
